Analogue
Something about analogue film hits different.
I’ve always loved the medium—knowing you have a limited number of shots makes you slow down and be more intentional. For that same reason, I spend less time looking through the lens, capturing just a shot or two before moving on.
Even after you’ve taken the photo, the process continues to be special. When I was 20 turning 21, I went on an overseas trip to Europe and India and I decided to take my 35mm camera and approximately 20-odd rolls of film.
I returned back to Australia after 6 weeks with not a dime to my name and a dozen rolls of undeveloped film. With each paycheck, I developed a couple, stretching the process over months. As slow as it was, I loved the anticipation—by the time I saw the images, I had often forgotten what I had captured. It felt like unwrapping a gift every time. Miraculously, nearly all the images turned out fine.
